Here is an underpainting. Hopefully it will be dry enough tomorrow to glaze. But I am not really counting on it. Maybe just more underpainting tomorrow.

Finally posting again

So I am now working again and will be posting again. Paintings anyway. I have been drawing but haven't had access to a good scanner.

Now that I am teaching at Boces (Graphic Arts and Visual Communications) I should be able to use their better scanners to scan my work. So drawings should be incoming.

But in the meantime expect to see more paintings every day or two. I am working every day now since I have a show coming up in November. If you are in Glens Falls, NY check out my show at Cool Beans coffee house on Western Ave.

My Brother

These are my brother Evan's feet, he wiggles while he is sleeping. Chasing rabbits or something. My pen ran out of ink halfway through this drawing, which means it is done. But could have been more done. More drawings later today.

Progress Report

Started inking up my Saint Drawing today. Just have the head left to do. Going to finish it up tomorrow. New landscape painting should be done soon too.

I am a holy man

Well this is the follow up piece to the pre-haircut self portrait. Damn, cutting my hair gave me a halo and cool robes and a lot of credibility. Plus I am more accurately drawn.

Get your hair cut soon and you too can become a saint.

Really this is a follow up to my modern saint portrait of Preston. (see it on the first page of my website) This is just a preperatory drawing for the next one, with me this time. Because I am the only person I know in SanFrancisco who feels like getting drawn.

Sooo.
Since I am working on a painting that means no post today. Maybe no post tomorrow too, just updates until the painting is done. Or perhaps an in progress photo. We'll see.

Started a new painting, posting my last one.

Started a new painting today. Landscape from Ocean side beach in SanFrancisco. Here is the last one I completed, just posted on the front page of my website as well.

Back in SanFrancisco

Having now returned to SanFrancisco I finally got to drink some coffee again, what a relief. Not that the coffee in LA isn't good, well yeah its not good. Maybe there is secretly some sort of underground cafe scene where good coffee is served. But in my short time there I certainly didn't find it.

Anyway it was nice to get back into Cafe Trieste and have a nice cafe au lait. So I drew the counter there. I will miss that cafe when I go back East.

Prior to my Haircut

While I was in Burbank over the weekend I cut my hair. I wasn't feeling good that day. I always thought that cutting your hair was a good thing to do if you don't feel good, it changes the way you feel. It didn't work out this time.

Cafe Trieste

If I leave my house and go around the corner, up a lot of stairs, and then down the street, I end up at Cafe Trieste. Cafe Trieste is one of the oldest coffee houses in the country. The coffee is unbelievable. Better than any other coffee I have had in the United States. Usually coffee in the US is terrible but Cafe Trieste really knows what they are doing. They roast their own beans and have barristas who know how to prepare all the drinks.

A few weeks ago I walked over to get cappuccino and work on my website (free wifi) and there was randomly a bunch of people playing mandolins. Enjoy today's drawing, the view of the Monkey Bar outside Trieste. Monkey Bar is a Thai bar where you can get excellent mixed drinks and noodle dishes.

Opening statement

I began this blog as a way to pull art out of myself every day. Even though I could just do it I work best when I have a deadline. Since I will be publishing a new drawing or painting every weekday I now have a deadline.
Tonite I will just be formatting this blog but tomorrow I will be posting drawings.
